“NEW YORK — NYSE Euronext, the parent company of the New York Stock Exchange, said yesterday that it is launching a cloud computing platform for the financial services industry.
The Capital Markets Community Platform, which several customers are testing, is to go live July 1 and would be the industry’s first, NYSE said.
Cloud computing offers customers computing power and storage on remote servers. Beyond renting out storage, a “cloud’’ provider uses vast banks of computers and can shift tasks from one to the next in the event that one fails. And when a client needs more computing capacity, it takes just minutes to deliver.”
