The iPhone 5 had been planned as a very slim, light-weight and the fastest phone ever made and it fulfills all these demands. It has a depth of 7.6mm, a volume of 3.31 inch-cube and a weight of 112 grams. In order to make it what it appears to be today, the iPhone engineers had to do a lot of experimentation and research. A nano-SIM card had been created especially for the iPhone 5, which replaced the micro-SIM cardof the previous models, as the latter was 44 percent smaller than the former.
For this model of iPhone, a unique cellular solution has also been developed. As compared to the previous models of iPhone that make use of two chips for the purpose of data and voice, the iPhone 5 makes use of a single chip to fulfill both these purposes. The Apple iPhone 5 has been equipped with an eight mega-pixel camera which has some excellent features.
It has modes like panorama and dynamic low-light, also being 25% smaller than the usual iPhone cameras. A new A6 chip has taken over the previous A5 chip, which performs with almost double speed and is smaller by as much as 22%.
As far as the weight of the iPhone 5 is concerned, it is 20% lighter and 18% thinner than the previous version of iPhone i.e. iPhone 4S.
As it was aimed at being the slimmest phone ever, the iPhone 5 has been given a very thin display. The slimmest technology was achieved by the creation of the first Retina display with an integrated touch technology. To achieve this, the pixels have been imparted a two-fold task. They act as touch-sensing electrodes and display the image at the same time.
Since a layer has been removed from the display screen, the clarity is much higher. As far as the back-side of the iPhone is considered, it is made up of anodized 6000 series aluminum, which is the same as that used for Apple Notebooks. The surface of the camera of this phone is made up of sapphire crystals, which means that it is quite less likely to get scratched. The headphones of this smartphone have been given an excellent ear-bud styled shape, which not only add to the comfort but also fit easily.
Apple has always been known to create devices which are not only performance rich but also eco-friendly. This is the reason why most of the materials used in the making of Apple products are highly recyclable and made from non-toxic substances.
The iPhone 5 is free of polyvinyl chloride and brominated flame retardants. Apple products undergo a wide variety of tests to ensure environmental standards, using methods like X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy and ion chromatography. This is the reason why Apple iPhone series is a hot favorite of smartphone buyers.
